Mandy, the CSA for Fig Offices Gloucester, spent a morning around the local area exploring the independent coffee shops just a short walk from Southgate House where Fig Offices are based.
Her first stop was Caffe Tucci, where she met manager Arden to find out more about his coffee shop. He noted how great the location was and that customers love coming there, giving a particular nod to when the ice skating rink is there at Christmas.
Next was meeting the owner of Caffe Corretto, Jacko. As a proud coffee shop owner, Jacko explained how they were one of the first cafes to open on the Docks when they regenerated the whole area 9 years ago. One unique thing about Caffee Corretto is that they have an alcohol license, so once a month they have a DJ but also open every Friday and Saturday night serving both coffee and alcohol too. They pride themselves in providing a continental atmosphere and welcoming families in the evening too.
Mandy’s last stop was at On Toast, located just across the road from Fig Offices. She met with owner, David, who takes pride in the quirky cafes main menu item, toasties. These are no ordinary toasties though, the weird and wonderful fillings include Hunters Chicken, West Country-Shreddded BBQ Pork and Cheese, Moroccan-Shredded Lamb and French Garlic Chicken, to name a few. Most of the fillings are inspired by himself but suggestions do come from customers sometimes.
