Coworking is an innovative solution to working within an office environment. It offers flexibility, the ability to work remotely and enables you to be part of a community. By the end of 2018, the Global Coworking Survey by DeskMag estimates 19,000 coworking spaces will be in use.
Finding the right coworking space is a huge decision and here at Fig Offices Swindon we want to help you make the process easier. So, here are the top ten questions to ask to find your perfect coworking space.
- What is the arrangement for seating?
The coworking desk space in Swindon is based in a prime office (3 Newbridge Square). Close to the breakout space and the kitchen, the desks also benefit from some incredible court yard facing views and sits around 8 people. Desks can be arranged in a pod or spread across the office to suit.
- What else comes with the workspace?
Coworking spaces come with a modern Nordic Ash finish desk and matching pedestal, shelving and fully ergonomic mesh backed chair. There is high capacity fibre connectivity and market leading telephones, with free local and national calls. Within our breakout areas, for use by our clients, we also have a kitchen area with free tea and coffee, and a water cooler.
- Who are the other members?
We have several businesses housed within the Fig Offices Swindon centre. The breakout areas allow a community to feel and interact between the companies, possibly leading to new connections being made. Fellow coworking companies will vary depending on the space taken and interaction will depend on their usage of the office space. We tend to find SME’s and remote workers occupy these types of spaces.
- How often can I use the space?
There is no right or wrong answer to this one! You will be issued with a key and fob which will allow you access to the centre. You are not constrained to a 9 til 5 day, or even Monday to Friday. Although the offices are not staffed 24 hours a day, your access to the centre is, so you can come and go as suits and use as much or as little as you need to.
- What’s the environment like?
Fig Offices Swindon has a community feel within the building. We hold events in the breakout area that include our co-working clients, we advise on local networking events which might interest you and we send group emails updating on items of interest within the building and surrounding town. It’s not all business, we like to have fun too!
- What events does the space offer?
We recently held a coworking day which was well attended, and we’ve received positive feedback. We try to hold events within our office community such as cakes and doughnuts networking events/breakfast on us in the break out area, and supporting Jessie May, our resident charity. Where possible, any of the events we hold here are open to our coworking clients.
- Do you offer a trial period?
We are more than happy for you to come in and view the coworking space to get a feel for the environment. We offer flexible contracts which work around your needs and we are happy to discuss options with you.
- What is the wi-fi connection like?
Depending on your needs, we will discuss the communication package that suits you best. This can be tailored from a roaming wi-fi service, a basic internet package up to a fully inclusive, centre wide connection.
- What type of coffee is provided?
Within our community kitchen, we have tea and coffee making facilities, which are free to use. We are within walking distance to the town centre should you require a more specialist coffee to get you through your day! You’ll always find a nice cup of Douwe Egberts and a perfect up of Tetley’s or PG Tips on site.
- What’s the community feel of the space?
We work hard to foster a community atmosphere and encourage the use of the break out areas for inter-office networking. External from the building, Swindon has a good networking scene which is both encouraging and supportive, and one we try to bring to our clients as much as we can.
